Capt’n Jax Bay Rum All Natural Soap

The “original” cologne, aftershave, soap fragrance that originated in the West Indian Islands in the 1600’s.  The original formula was made by soaking the leaves of the West Indian bay tree in rum and then creating the distillate.  In those days the months long ship voyages back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean and the lack of bathing required a body fragrance pleasant enough to make the long voyages tolerable.

Capt’n Jax Bay Rum is made from beef tallow!

Capt’n Jax Bay Rum is made with 100% American grass-fed beef tallow from the high plains region of Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska. We pride ourselves for NOT using any palm oil in our soaps.  Don’t be fooled by the false claims that vegan soaps are cruelty free.  If your soap contains palm oil it’s almost certainly from a plantation 1000’s of miles away that used to be rainforest.  Rainforests are being destroyed everyday across the tropics of the Earth to make way for America’s insatiable appetite for cheap and versatile palm oil.  The loss of rainforest is destroying millions of acres of animal habitat, especially the Orangutan.  Orangutans are literally facing extinction due to the loss of habitat to palm oil production in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, in the United States we have millions of beef cattle grazing on our enormous grass prairies that are turning sunlight, grass, and rainfall into nutritious protein for our food system and the fat, or tallow, that is a by-product of our food is one of the most nutritious fats in nature.  Beef tallow is better for you diet and better for your skincare than palm oil.  Beef tallow contains more vitamins and nutrients than pal, and it more closely matches the same fat that makes up your skin and will absorb better and not clog pores unlike palm.

In short:

Destroying rainforest to grow monocrop palm=not sustainable.

Using animal fats left over from existing food supply=sustainable.

It’s time to know the truth.

Capt’n Jax Bay Rum All Natural Soap has Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp seed oil is also known for having high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, such as Gamma-Linolenic Acid (Omega-6) and Alpha-Linolenic Acid (Omega-3) that are optimally balanced, giving rise to exceptional moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties. In addition to its beautifying and anti-aging uses, Hemp Oil has also built a reputation for being helpful in a variety of common skin ailments, such as dry skin, acne, eczema, psoriasis, scars, and too much oil production.

Why does my current soap suck?

Does you current soap make you itch?  If you’re buying commercial soap from the store like everyone else you’re not using soap.  You’re rubbing chemical detergents all over your body.  Since the late 1800’s soap has been losing out to corporate interests and YOU have been losing to them as well.  It started in the late 1800’s when the soap companies figured out they could extract the natural glycerin (the stuff that REALLY moisturizes your skin) and sell it for more money than the soap itself was worth.  Then in the 1940’s German scientists invented chemical detergents.  Detergents were much better at lifting dirt, grime, and greasy stains.  “Soap” manufacturers started making a product they called soap, but it actually lacked the very thing for which it was named.  Store “soap” is nothing more than a chemical bar made up of over 30 chemicals no one can pronounce and some of the ingredients actually aren’t that good for you.  One chemical is actually meant to make the bar hard so it won’t melt in the shower.  That chemical actually makes your skin dry and itchy.
